FERDINAND TO END WITH UNITED

Rio Ferdinand wants to end his playing days with Manchester United and does not want to move to another club. Ferdinand hopes to extend that deal and play into his late 30s – injuries permitting. Ferdinand hopes to do likewise – and ahead of the 157th derby, insists anywhere but United is down.
“I won’t be playing abroad, this is me,” he said. “I am at Man United and I love it here. Why take a step backwards?”
Rio Ferdinand is Sir Alex Ferguson’s major headache for the clash with City, having missed last week’s defeat to Wolves and England’s friendly with Denmark.
The centre back has also revealed that he could make a step into management when finally hangs his boots up – adding that Gary Neville would be his ideal No2. But Ferdinand believes they could form a dream management team.
“If the opportunity (to manage) comes along then I’ll definitely have a look at it,” he said. “But I’ve got a while left yet before I have to contemplate it.”On his assistant he added: “Gary Neville, he’d be perfect. He’d cross the Ts and dot the Is.”
