Rio Ferdinand says that Mourinho should not offload millions in a striker

Jose Mourinho is experiencing some dilemmas in Manchester United as the head coach of the English Premier League club was initially attempting to bring the league title to Old Trafford but that dream is looking impossible at this point in time and now his new objective is to help Manchester United secure a qualification spot for the upcoming season of the UEFA Champions League.

After 30 Premier League matches, Jose Mourinho and his squad have collected 57 points and are positioned at the 5th spot. Unfortunately for Manchester United, the 5th spot is not a qualification position for the UEFA Champions League as they will have to secure at least the 4th spot.

There are more than enough matches for Manchester United to climb a few more spots and make it happen. Even if Jose Mourinho and his men actually do manage to qualify for the next season of the European competition, their current campaign is not a memorable one as they have not been able to make a real charge for the top spots of the Premier League and Mourinho is already thinking about what to do in order to turn Manchester United into a real Premier League title competitor.

One of the ways that Jose Mourinho is rumored to do this is by signing a top striker and Antoine Griezmann of Athletic Madrid has entered his radar but the former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand believes that it’s not necessary to offload so much cash in a striker.

AntonieGriezmann has recently been linked with Manchester United but the Spanish player has a release clause which is believed to be in the region of £85m but Rio Ferdinand has a different point of view as the English retiree said:

“I don’t think they need to spend millions and millions on one. I would give Rashford the opportunity next season. Rashford is still young and needs help. You can’t put it all on him. Rashford would send nerves into my system as a defender but needs to play in best position, not out wide.”

Rio Ferdinand is certain that offloading so much cash is not needed as he has high hopes that the 19 year old attacker can turn into a solid attacking option without having to dish out so much money.
