Rio Ferdinand recently announced his retirement from football after having just been released by QPR.

The former Manchester United defender had been struggling for form and fitness even during his final few years at United. His decline only compounded after the move to Loftus Road. Ferdinand was unable to get a place in the first-team for the relegated team. Aware that his powers on the pitch were on a drastic decline, the former England international decided to announce his retirement. However, this is not going to be the last time Ferdinand is involved in a game.

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand says that he may not have a long time left in football.

The 36-year-old is now playing for QPR after having left United last summer. After a promising start to his life in West London, Ferdinand has not been featuring in recent matches due to poor form. Since he has lost a lot of pace, manager Harry Redknapp had to use three defenders at the back in order to protect Ferdinand. This ploy did not work very well after QPR struggled for form in the early parts of the season.
