RIO CRITICISES TACTICS

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has criticised the tactics used by England manager Roy Hodgson after the Euro 2012. The 33-year-old defender was left out of the squad for the Euro 2012 by England manager Roy Hodgson, who cited only the form as the reason for his omission.

However, it is well known in various quarters that Roy Hodgson decided to leave Rio Ferdinand due to the tension that it may cause within the England squad since John Terry was also taken as part of the squad. John Terry and Rio Ferdinand’s brother Anton Ferdinand are currently involved in a legal problem after Anton Ferdinand alleged John Terry of racially abusing him.

Even after the injury to Chelsea defender Gary Cahill, Rio Ferdinand was not called to the squad. This has led Rio Ferdinand to criticising the England manager Roy Hodgson following the quarter-final exit from the Euro 2012. The 33-year-old defender has said that the negative tactics used by the manager at the competition in all of the four matches is completely unacceptable. He has also not accepted the fact that Manchester United defender Phil Jones did not play a lot at the Euro 2012.

“If you take the youngsters to a competition like this, you should get them out there and see what they are made of. I am a fan of The Ox and I wanted to see more of him but in the end he finished up as a spectator. He was almost in the same position Theo Walcott was when he was picked for the 2006 World Cup. Phil Jones is one of the most adaptable players we have in our country and where was he? Instead, we stayed cautious and Jordan Henderson was used instead,” said Rio Ferdinand after the exit of England from the competition.
